We have aimed to answer any questions you may have here. Please contact us at edison@discoverymat.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We advise that children wear their main school uniform to make sure they still feel that they a part of their school community. In addition to this, we recommend that your child brings a PE kit with trainers. Your Centre will advise on any other clothes for trips or events as necessary. If you need support with clothing, please speak to a member of staff.
PPN centres use CATERed. If your child attends a school that also uses CATERed, you will need to pay into their school account as usual (or not if your child receives free school meals). Alternatively, your Centre will be able to provide you with a login to use for the duration of their attendance at their Centre to pay for meals from CATERed (or not if your child recieves free school meals). Your Centre will be able to provide you with a menu. Children are also welcome to bring a packed lunch to school and can place them in a fridge until lunch time.
The current CATERed menu is available HERE
Our timetable runs as the following:
Monday - 09:30-14:00
Tuesday - 09:30-14:00
Wednesday - 09:30-12.30
Thursday - 09:30-14:00
Friday - 09:30-14:00
If your child is unwell and unable to attend their centre, you should call the centre as soon as possible on 01752 706361. The staff will then contact your child's mainstream school to inform them for their records. Please ensure you call on each day of absence.
The PPN panel accepts referrals from Headteachers and SENDCOs from primary schools in and around Plymouth.
If you are a parent and feel that your child would benefit from a PPN placement, please speak to your child's teacher or SENDCO.
Our centres provide placements for up to 6 children in each centre at a time.
The PPN centres are based in schools and provide short-term alternative placements, therefore they are open during term-time only.

We are now in a position to offer our EYFS (Nursery and Foundation) Outreach to local Plymouth schools and nursery settings. We have an EYFS SEN Teacher and EYFS SEN TA who can visit your settings to offer advice around support for children with SEMH or other special educational needs.
This work can be for the entire setting or an individual child.
As this project is being funded by Plymouth City Council it will be a FREE service. Please call 01752 706360 (103) or email edison@discoverymat.co.uk.
