The Edison Centre opened in September 2018 as part of Discovery Multi Academy Trust. The Trust is made up of Beechwood, Oakwood, and Weston Mill Community Primary Academies, and the two Edison Centres. This Centre is based in Beechwood Primary Academy in Southway and has rooms for key stage one and key stage two, a STEM centre, therapeutic space for interventions, private garden and secure play space, and has access to the grounds of Beechwood where we have a covered playground, trim trail, nature garden and sprawling field.
The Centre generally has 4 - 6 pupils at a time, which enables a high level of support and adult input, in a small and supportive environment. We strive to provide pupils with a positive school experience using a combination of practical and desk-based learning opportunities to equip our pupils with skills for a mainstream school classroom. Our learning is based on a STEM based thematic curriculum.

We are now in a position to offer our EYFS (Nursery and Foundation) Outreach to local Plymouth schools and nursery settings. We have an EYFS SEN Teacher and EYFS SEN TA who can visit your settings to offer advice around support for children with SEMH or other special educational needs.
This work can be for the entire setting or an individual child.
As this project is being funded by Plymouth City Council it will be a FREE service. Please call 01752 706360 (103) or email edison@discoverymat.co.uk.
